News release

Dassel-Cokato, in their second year of competition in the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League, grabbed an early lead in the Prairie Division in a meet held Monday in Olivia. D-C, led by Matthew Colvin's perfect individual score, outscored second place BDRSH 78-71.

MACCRAY is in third place after Meet 1. BOLD, division champions the past four years, is in fourth place after one meet, followed by BLH in fifth.

Colvin's perfect score of 14 was matched by Phillip Westby of BDRSH. Dan Johansson of D-C and Will Baumann of BDRSH scored 12 apiece to tie for third place in the individual standings. Jeremiah Lund of BDRSH, Bridget Revier, Tom Wertish and Ben Frank, all of BOLD, and Sid Stamm of D-C scored 10 points each.

The MSHSML season consists of five meets. The team and individual leaders after five meets compete in a state tournament in March. The next Prairie Division meet will be held in Olivia on December 8.

News release

The BOLD Warriors captured first place in the second meet of the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League season held in Olivia Monday. Dassel Cokato finished first in the Prairie Division in Meet 1 and led the Warriors 53-51 after the individual events in Meet 2. BOLD outscored the Chargers 12-8 in the team event to gain a 63-61 edge. Team scores are determined on the basis of the scores of individual scores of 8 team members and the team event score for each team.

MACCRAY finished in third place in the meet with 51 points, followed by BDRSH and BLH. Dassel-Cokato continues to lead the division in total points on the season.

In the individual competition Matt Colvin of D-C was the point leader for the second straight meet with 12 points. Emily Smith of BDRSH, Bridget Revier and Naomi Scheibel of BOLD and Jacob Colvin of D-C each scored 10 points. Aeleah Soine and Mark Anderson of MACCRAY scored 9 apiece while Phillip Westby and Josh Lueck of BDRSH, Matt Senger and Scott Brandt of BOLD and Dan Johansson of D-C each scored 8.

The MSHSML season consists of five meets. The team and individual leaders after five meets compete in a state tournament in March. Meet 3 of the Prairie Division season will be held in Olivia on January 12.

News release

The Prairie Division of the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League saw its third team winner in three meets. BDRSH outscored second place Dassel-Cokato 27-26 in Meet 3 held in Olivia Monday. In what proved to be a very low scoring meet, MACCRAY finished in third place followed by BOLD and BLH.

Season totals show Dassel-Cokato holding a commanding lead with 165 points, followed by BDRSH with 146, MACCRAY with 131, BOLD with 129 and BLH with 60. The leading team after five meets will compete in the State Tournament.

Melissa Pentz of BDRSH was the top individual scorer in the meet with a total of 6 points. Jesse Westby of BDRSH, Sarah Palm of BLH and Aeleah Soine of MACCRAY scored 5 points each. Matthew Colvin of D-C continues to lead the individual scores on the season with 29 points. Phillip Westby of BDRSH, Bridget Revier of BOLD and Dan Johansson of D-C follow close behind Colvin.

Meet 4 will be held in Olivia on Monday, February 2.

Dassel-Cokato gained its second win in four meets Monday in a math meet held in Olivia. D-C scored 64 points in the meet, followed by MACCRAY with 53. BDRSH finished third, BOLD fourth and BLH fifth.

After four meets D-C holds a commanding lead in the Prairie Division of the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League, having scored a total of 229 points and leading second place BDRSH by 43 points. MACCRAY is in third place on the season, trailing BDRSH by only 2 points, followed by BOLD and BLH.

Matthew Colvin of D-C was the leading individual scorer in Meet 4 with 10 points and leads the divisional season totals with a total of 39 points. Sid Stamm of D-C finished second with 9 points. Emily Smith of BDRSH, Naomi Scheibel of BOLD, Kurt Hungerford of D-C and Tracy Scott of MACCRAY tied for third place with 7 point apiece. Mike Petersen of MACCRAY, Mike Deragon of D-C and Josh Lueck and Angie Tepfer of BDRSH each scored 6.

Meet 5 will be held in Olivia on Monday, February 23. The leading team and individual following Meet 5 will advance to the State Tournament.

News release

Dassel-Cokato, in its second year in the Prairie Division of the Minnesota State High School Mathematics League, finished in first place for the 1997-1998 season. Although BDRSH won Meets 3 and 5 and Dassel-Cokato Meets 1 and 4, D-C held a comfortable 299-267 lead at the season's end. BOLD was the winner in Meet 2. MACCRAY finished third on the season with 236 points, followed by BOLD with 218 and BLH with 98.

BDRSH jumped out to an early lead in meet 5, scoring 24 points in Event A, and were never threatened as they finished with 81 points. They were followed by D-C, MACCRAY, BOLD and BLH.

Dassel-Cokato will compete in the State Math Meet on March 30.

Matthew Colvin coasted to an individual division championship with 51 points on the season. Following Colvin were Emily Smith and Phillip Westby of BDRSH with 38 and 36 points, respectively, Bridget Revier of BOLD with 35 and Jesse Westby of BDRSH with 34. Others in the top ten were Josh Lueck of BDRSH, Aeleah Soine of MACCRAY and Jacob Colvin, Sid Stamm and Dan Johansson, all of D-C.

Matt Rothwell of MACCRAY, Smith, Matt Colvin and Soine each scored 12 points to lead the scoring in Meet 5. They were followed by Sean Wachter of MACCRAY, Revier and Phillip Westby who scored 11 apiece. Tepfer, Jesse Westby and Melissa Pentz, all of BDRSH rounded out the top ten.
